815am: Wake up

845am: Out for extremely satisfying breakfast of noodles with ‘liu’ (erm, yong tau foo stuff) with parents. There is a reason I hardly ever touch yong tau foo in Singapore. Their noodles and the sauce and the ‘liu’ are all just…. wrong. Yums.

1000am: Back to snooze a little and read a little more.

12pm: Out to pick up Ernie from his holiday programme.

1230pm: Watch 美女厨房  with my mom.

130pm: Have another yummy lunch of porridge cooked with leftover roast duck, minced pork and scallops.

215pm: Phing and I are at the salon waiting to get our facials done (my first!).

345pm: Completely relaxed (I fell asleep I think) and de-blackheaded, we pay RM50 (for both of us!) and wait for my dad to pick us up.

4pm: We share a bowl of cendol (with red beans and glutinous rice! Only at Ipoh Jaya!) by the drain. I haven’t had this particular cendol since we moved from this area!

Tonight: Out for dinner at this place at First Garden.

Tomorrow: Swimming at Meru, perhaps?

Somebody, give me one good reason to look forward to Singapore next week.

Blessed Christmas, everyone :)

And of course, TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the electric company ho ho ho) decided to give us a Christmas gift last night - electricity was down for about 2-3 hours at about 1130pm last night. Not just us, but the entire Ipoh Garden East I believe. But what cracked me up was this.

Dad: Hello, TNB? I would like to report yadayadayada…..

TNB: Okay, what is your address?

Dad: I live at yadayadayadayada…

TNB: Okay, asks for other stuff…

Dad: Tells her other stuff …. by the way, to whom am I speaking to?

TNB: Some name.

Dad: And may I know to where I am speaking to? So that I can refer to it?

TNB: I am sorry sir, but it’s a SECRET.

I am not lying here. She told my dad that her location is SECRET.

Why?

Of course, I cracked up like mad hearing the conversation.

Anyone can tell me why their location is SECRET?

When I played Neopets eons ago, I named my virtual pet Sammy.

Now there IS a Sammy at our home! My parents adopted a stray puppy and he is adorable!

Pics next time!

Before I go back to workland. Ahwell.

The past few days in KL has been good.In brief…

- there is never enough time to spend with your family, be it immediate or extended family

- Low Yat Plaza beats SimLim hands down in terms of friendliness and cleanliness (and perhaps deals too!)

- Too much food is not good.

- MNG has been kind to me this sales by revealing that I am an M by their standards haha. Discovered that as I put on an L-sized dress and was frantically scratching my head over how to alter the dress to make it fit until my brilliant mom said: Why don’t you try an M? I was so pleased that I bought more than one item. Ha. Cheap thrill.

- You’d never know what you can find in the lala-shops at Sungei Wang.

- Hokkien noodles are the best. Period.

- Forget Crystal Jade or Imperial Treasure. The xiao long bao at Dragon-i beats all of them hands down. No joke.

- The prospect of spending (yet another) Christmas and a lazy week in Ipoh is GLORIOUS.

Oh and I watched the following clip on TV2 (yes, who watches that anymore, right? But Louis Koo was in that movie last night!). I was so appalled that all I could do was laugh. Really. For Malaysians, really, just laugh. For the others, please do not view this as a representation of a developing country otherwise known as Malaysia. We are not REALLY like that. I swear.

*sigh* Off I go to clean some toilets now.

(Thanks to Serene for this picture - I had a lovely time that morning)

Don’t you just feel like walking away? Not because you are scared, but because there is the need to be alone and to retreat?

After the cliched ending of Forensic Heroes (interesting cases, blah ending, gah - but eye candy galore ho ho), I watched the TVB variety programme that was included in the DVD, 日日有食神. Interestingly, they focused on Kota Kinabalu for that particular episode.

And no, you can’t take a bus to Kota Kinabalu. It’s at that part of Malaysia that you have to fly to. Yes, Malaysia does not consist only of the peninsular.

I didn’t quite recognise the places they introduced in the episode but looking at the city scape and the streets and the sea (yes, how I miss the sea - ironic that I moved from KK where there were water houses near the city to Ipoh which is basically a valley - From the oceans to the mountains, indeed) reignited fond memories about food in KK haha.

The rare nights where my mom allowed me to go out for supper with our housemates - I had my first taste of guo-tie (pot stickers for the North Americans) then and to this day, nothing tastes as good as the ones I had as a kid in KK.

Fish paste noodles in this small little coffee shop.

Sugarbun. Not buns topped with sugar (my mom would have banned it from the house, tsk tsk), but a fast food chain only available in KK and Kuching.

Mixed soda in my school’s canteen.

Actually I don’t remember too much food cos well, you know my mom and how stringent my parents were about eating out.

But I do miss the KK days sometimes.

Maybe it’s time to return to KK for a walk - incidentally, a primary school classmate has returned to KK after graduating in Australia and has offered to bring me around a bit.

Maybe maybe.

Oooh another milestone for Ernie!

Those of you who have met him know that he can’t fully express himself with speech - that is probably why he hates talking on the phone unless it’s absolutely necessary ("Ta cheh, I want three car books from Singapore" "I want to go to Hong Kong" - you catch the drift).

But, he made us proud - he has been calling my sister a lot these few days - I think he misses her (cos she spoils him and I am the dictator hrrrmmmppphh). Just that few lines to say every time but I think my sister is sufficiently happy. Oh, and he called my dad this morning too, after he found out that my dad has gone back to work in Sabah.

Hee, can’t wait to see the boy. I bought him a shirt that proclaims that LIFE IS GOOD - how appropriate for him.

generalDecember 3, 2006 3:16 pm

Not the first time alone.

But strangely, with all the lights off, all alone with the TV or the computer, I felt strangely vulnerable.

Must be the TVB series that I am watching that is planting ideas in my head.

Aiyoh, how to live on my own in the future?

generalDecember 2, 2006 3:11 am

I don’t remember the last time I came back at 3am. Okay, so I did last Wednesday cos of Ladies Nite.

I don’t remember the last time I came back at 3am feeling completely satisfied and at ease. Dinner with the girls at Amirah’s Grill followed by good live music and a pint of Erdingers at Timbre. I like. We should do it more often. Or rather, I should join them more often.

Hee.

And I’ve discovered the theraupeutic effect of glass painting these two days :) In my group mate WK’s words, "Eh, I’ve never seen you so calm before.", as I was painting flowers on a bottle.

What can I say?

Hee.

Either that, or I was merely getting a high from the glass paint and turpentine :)
